If you are thinking about growing a wildflower garden do not be fooled by all those seed companies promoting wildflowers in a can or roll. Chances are you will not be very successful going this rout. English cottage gardens are usually a hodge podge of classical heavily scented flowers and plants. There is no rhyme or reason to the design. You might have a Sweet William plant popping up in four or five different places. A clump of Delphinium may be blooming on one side of your garden and a clump of Foxglove on the other side. Nothing beats a beautiful well-tended garden with its perfectly trimmed bushes, weed free soil, and bright full blooms. However, if you are like me, you do not want to spend your entire weekend hedging, pruning, weeding, watering, fertilizing, deadheading and mulching.
