It will stand out well against the lush greenery of your lawn. The white roses also blend well with blooms of any color in a perennial flower garden. The French Lace roses creamy color makes it a suitable companion for just about any plant. If an all white garden works for you try planting Mock Orange alongside these white roses. It too has ivory blooms with dark green foliage. For color contrast try growing these white roses with yellow daylilies, blue salvias or bright red San Juan Roses. Other roses that work with this Floribunda Rose are the Shrub Rose with its deep pink blooms and the Peace Rose, which has similar blush peach color.
Purchasing & Planting
Purchase the French Lace rose as a bareroot in early spring. Or, look for plants in pots that are in bloom. Do not purchase this Floribunda Rose if it has thin brown stems or yellow spotted leaves. These are indications of a diseased plant.
After purchase dig a hole about 8 inches deep and wide enough for the roots to spread. Make a mound in the middle of the hole with a mixture of soil and compost. Place the French Lace Rose on top of the mound so the area where the stem joins the root is level with the ground. Fill in the hole and firm down the soil. Mulch with a 2-inch layer of pine bark but be sure the mulch does not touch the rose stem.
Plant Care
Once blooming begins be sure to remove faded flowers. French Lace roses prefer at least 6 hours of full sun to produce a full crop of white roses. These roses like rich well-drained soil. Fertilize this Floribunda Rose with a liquid rose food when it first blooms and twice more during the blooming season. Be sure not to plant Boxwoods near these white roses as the Boxwood roots can interfere with the root system of the French Lace Rose.
French Lace roses are susceptible to Botrytis blight. This is a fungus that looks gray on buds. These buds will fall off the rose bush without opening. Remove these diseased buds and spray with a fungicide.
Seasonal Care
Seasonal care starts in the fall. Prepare the site where you will be planting your French Lace Roses by removing debris and stones. Work compost or manure into the soil about 1 1\2 foot deep. In early spring purchase and plant your bareroot French Lace Roses. During spring fertilize established roses as soon as the leaves begin to sprout. Prune all dead, crossed, or diseased branches. In summer purchase potted French Lace Roses that are already blooming. Fertilize these white roses after the first blooms appear and again in the middle of the summer.
