It’s Tomato Time!

I just wanted to take a minute and mention some blogs that I follow that are having a bumper crop of tomatoes this season. In particular is Marc over at Garden Desk. He just posted today about some totally awesome Black Krim Tomatoes. The photos of them are just too cool. I commented to Marc that there is quite a debate in our house over heirloom tomatoes vs hybrids, and he was kind enough to refer me to a very useful article on his site. Check it out his article on the pros and cons of heirloom tomatoes.
Moving on, Michelle at My Grandpa’s Garden has been showing off her fresh crop of cherry tomatoes and a couple of nice big ‘uns, too. Great work! She talks a little earlier about how having tomatoes in her garden help remind her of her grandpa, the garden she grew up with and the time she spent with him. For me, it’s daylillies. Grandma had zillions of them. Now mom does. But I digress..
Over at the Inadvertant Gardener, it’s Fried Green Tomato time! Woo hoo! Just take an extra dose of Lipitor and it’s all good!
Genie’s ‘maters have been taking a joyride off their branches this season and it appears she’s gotten a few comments on how to keep them from being on the Tomato Tower of Terror for next year.
Finally, I’ll close with a few extras -
I just found Sylvana over at The Obsessive Gardener and the picture on her post says it all. I don’t know if there are tomatoes in that garden, but I can bet you there are no rabbits! All I could think about when I saw this was Michelle and her Pumpkin Porn at 5am…
Speaking of Michelle - does anyone need some Zucchini? And NO, I hate the stuff! My Hoover Vacuum Yellow Lab won’t even eat it.
Don’t forget I also have some input on growing tomatoes. Check out my tomato article.
Happy Gardening All!
Emma
