Sounds a little like my attempt to get tomatos to grow up a piece of old lattice. We got a whole lot of rain and the lattice frame fell down, causing my tomatos to grow along the ground. I tried to make some repairs but the lattice feel to bits! It sure is hard to beat the good old tomato stake!
