I have another great idea for getting rid of those nasty unwanted intruders. I’m new to growing veggies and am learning as I go. I now know all about squash bugs. I was having difficulty removing the eggs without tearing up the leaves so I got a roll of masking tape and used a piece to blot and pull off the eggs. It works great. It also works great at removing aphids from the eggplant as well as those little green worms that were eating my brussels sprouts. Now I never go to the garden without my trusty roll of masking tape on my wrist and my garden is gorgeous. Just gently blot the backs of the leaves and nothing gets away!

I can vouch for the frog method - we have hundreds of frogs in our Canadian backyard and I've never seen a slug or snail. In our old garden in north-west England there were no frogs and I was battling with gastropods on a daily basis. I was too kind to kill them, so I threw them over the wall into the cemetery behind our house. I'm sure they used to climb right back over during the night...

Hi Emma,
I guess I may be a little neglectful of the comments on my blog, mainly because I don't often go back and check the comments that I make on others blogs. The 'notify via email box' is handy though to remind me to go back.
I do try to rather go and visit peoples blogs and respond by making comments on their sites instead. But maybe I should try a little harder on mine...
Surely in changing from Blogger to Wordpress you might lose some of the links that you may have developed with other bloggers?

I love a tangled and disordered garden, even if done in an orderly fashion, if that makes any sense. :) Great post with some super ideas.

Great article! I am always looking for tips on planning the perfect garden. It has long been a habit of mine, and one that seems to drive my wife to distraction. So any help that you can give me on doing a better job (all I really am is an enthusiastic amateur) I would greatly appreciate it!
I will definitely be recommending this article to my friends, and I thought that you might like this article here also, since it seems so closely linked to what you are talking about.
Please keep the great tips comming.

I think gardening is good for whatever "ails" you, including mid-life crisis. At least, that's what I'm banking on! Good luck with your new garden.
