Why You Should Fire Your Landscaper
There are many reasons why we love to garden, but very few people understand the reasons why we SHOULD garden. The simple fact of the matter is that gardening is good for us, and if you are not the type to get out and hit the gym, gardening is an excellent alternative. Not sure you quite buy into that? Read on for yourself….
If you don’t think gardening is hard work, ask anyone who has just come in from three hours in the garden. The garden itself is a gym in and of itself, and is right in your own backyard. Turning compost is equivalent to living weights, raking is not unlike your gym’s rowing machine, and pushing the lawnmower is the same kind of workout you get with a treadmill. You may not hit the gym, but when you are in the garden, you are using hole diggers, rakes, shovels, mowers, wheelbarrows, and many more tools that are giving you your workout while you run around the track that IS your backyard.
As with any exercise, the health benefits of gardening are numerous, and impressive. Gardening requires the use of all of your major muscle groups. And these are the muscles that burn the most calories. Your legs, tummy, bottom, back, neck, and arms, are all getting a workout, and in some cases, all at the same time. Using human powered tools instead of motorized tools will only increase these benefits.
Lastly, gardening is good for the soul, and no gardener will dispute this. You can get lost in the art of gardening, as you connect with the Earth and give back to it in numerous ways. As you treat the world with love and with care, you will feel a sense of accomplishment, fulfillment, and peace.
If you are blessed to have both a landscaper and a gym membership to take care of all of these things, why not fire them both? This way you save money, AND get the same benefits from all of these things.
